Letter to you

Day 27, Monday: A letter to your readers

blog everyday in may

Dear you,

If you are reading this, then I guess I consider you a reader ūüôā

Thanks for stopping by.  Thanks for reading this, whether you are a first timer or a regular.

If you have read more than 1 blog from me, you’ll know I am COMPLETELY random all of the time. ¬†Sometimes it’s workouts, sometimes it’s food, sometimes health issues, sometimes it’s rants. ¬†You never know where I will go!

I hope you return and thanks for reading!

All my best,

Melissa

Bored

Day 26, Sunday:¬†Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you’d like.

This¬†is how bored I was this morning. ¬†I never read this kind of crap, but I was intrigued. ¬†Thank goodness the gym is opening soon, I need to get out of the house. ¬†If it wasn’t for me running yesterday, I would have never left. ¬†Not my idea of fun ūüė¶

Like any elephant

Day 25, Saturday:¬†Something someone told you about yourself that you’ll never forget (good or bad). ¬†Elephant never forgets, get it? ¬†wink wink!

I will never forget where I came from. ¬†I will not forget my heritage (German and Polish). ¬†I will not forget the sacrifices that my family made for me. ¬†I will not forget how fat felt and how I don’t want to go back.

This is one I could go on and on about.  I have an awful memory, but I never forget the important stuff!

Life lessons

Day 23, Thursday:¬†Things you’ve learned that school won’t teach you

blog everyday in may

Oh the things I’ve learned the hard way!

  • Know when to say no
  • How to know when you need a break. ¬†Mentally, physically, emotionally, etc.
  • Adults in groups are just as bad or worse as kids when it comes to being mean, spiteful, etc.
  • You can never make a group of women get along all of the time. ¬†I actually DID learn this in school in a sorority. ¬†I really thought when we got older that would change. ¬†NOPE!
  • Communication is tough.
  • Rest whether, you think you need it or not
  • Regularly evaluate what is important to you in life. ¬†Priorities change
  • Don’t settle
  • Sometimes you just have to keep your mouth shut
  • Losing weight and keeping it off was one of the best life changes I ever made
  • Saying thank you to someone never goes out of style
  • Appreciate what you have, don’t whine about what you don’t

Ranting

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. blog everyday in may

Have you ever listened to Adam Carolla’s podcast? ¬†He has a segment sometimes called “what can’t Adam complain about?” ¬†Yeah, there is a reason I like him so much, I could complain about ANYTHING but I am getting better about not vocalizing it.

Let us talk about the workplace today. ¬†I’m talking as a whole, all 6 buildings, 16 regions, 3000+ people.

  1. Have some common sense when you get dressed in the morning. ¬†This isn’t a bar, a beach, or prom.
  2. Practice good hygiene.  If you can be smelled outside of your cube, you have a problem.
  3. You don’t need to bring your own coffee maker for the breakroom. ¬†There are like 7 in our breakroom. ¬†Either bring your coffee, buy into the coffee club buy it in the cafe, or keep your personal maker in your cube/office. ¬†We already have limited counter space.
  4. While I give props to the person who donated the sink screens, I want to scream at the people who wash their crap off their dishes into the screens and leave it there.  NASTY.
  5. We have a soap and sponge/brush pool. ¬†If you use the stuff, you need to participate in the pool. ¬†They sell this crap at Dollar Tree. ¬†$2 can get you a big bottle of soap and a brush or sponge. ¬†The only reason I even go in there is to wash my dishes, so they don’t stink when I go to put them in the dishwasher at night.
  6. Office treats for a job well done are nice I guess. ¬†Even though there is a slim chance i’d eat anything that was brought anyhow, it’s almost always bagels, donuts, cake etc., which means there is a 0% chance I will eat it. ¬†And I likely wouldn’t eat a GF version either. ¬†Today’s bagels were a reward for job well done, which was majority me. ¬†You are welcome for the bagels I earned you.
  7. Apparently some people are able to come and go as they please.  Must be nice to make your own hours.
  8. Empty spaces are not dumping grounds for your unwanted crap. ¬†If you have files that you don’t need, recycle them or ask what needs to happen to them. ¬†Two weeks ago I lead a cleanup on a cube that had massive amounts of crap dumped in it from various individuals. ¬†NONE of it was mine. ¬†I was not happy as I was flinging boxes and tossing things left and right into the recycling bin.
  9. Learn how to park. ¬†I park in the same spot every morning. ¬†My car is repeatedly beat up because people park like assholes. ¬†Have you ever seen “youparklikeanasshole?” ¬†If you haven’t, you should. ¬†I am pretty sure some people are vying to be on there that park near me.
  10. Our cafeteria is a wreck. ¬†The only thing that I would buy there are breakfast and a drink. ¬†The lunches are 100% crap, I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. ¬†And I had to have the gluten¬†contamination¬†talk with the manager because the server was using the bacon spatula to cut toast. ¬†ACK!
  11. Travel. ¬†We don’t get money for tips, which leads to certain people either only eating fast food or being stingy with tips. ¬†FYI, if you travel with me, I eat as good or better than at home quality wise. ¬†If you don’t like it, take your own car.
  12. I cringe every time I hear an iphone chime, because I think it’s my work phone.

This was the day I remembered not feeling well, like when the switch flipped and I never felt normal after that.  I had a great time, but it was a turning point in my health
